What is the difference between a standard ADSL and a ADSL Modem with router? Guys, Just wondering what is the difference between a Standard ADSL modem with an ethernet connection and a ADSL Modem with a router?

How can I set up a Telstra ADSL home modem to allow other ADSL modems on the same phone line to work? I am NOT using a LAN setup. I simply want to connect 2 ADSL modems on 2 computers in different rooms to be able to access the ADSL single line in my house. As soon as another modem is connected, the whole system slows down to molasses; as soon as we disconnect one of the modems, broadband works fine. I have a Thomson SpeedTouch modem supplied by Telstra and a Belkin...the Belkin has a NAT feature that I can enable, but the SpeedTouch does not have this in the software section (and Telstra tech support won't reveal how to enable this function...they are, apparantly, greedy and want people to buy extra lines, which is unacceptable.) How can I prevent my ADSL connection from randomly disconnecting at night? Beginning at sundown, my ADSL connection randomly connects and then disconnects. It does this until sunrise at about 6:00 am. There are no burglar alarms or special lights in my home. Tech support is of course clueless and can only ask questions about filters and such nonsense. It only does this at night. During the day it runs as smooth as silk. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you fix it?

What causes CRC errors on an ADSL connection? I am having an issue with my ADSL connection. More speed = more CRC errors, which lags the connection. Sometimes I'll get around 30-50 a second the the line disconnects. I would like to know if anyone else has had a problem that they can't nut out. Have changed modem, installed a Central Filter, etc etc. My house wiring is fine. Edit : I have already hit the ISP with line testing and the such. They can't fault the line, to a degree. Changed my modem 2 times (tested with 3 modems), 3 technicians have come to the house and say it's fine (the house). I am 6 kilometres from the exchange, which is just outside the ADSL capabilities, but I am trying to understand, where these CRC errors come from. Can it be noise related in the line. Can it be a copper wire failing or a connection that got wet and corroded? Can it be a faulty DSLAM port or the exchange? Line faults intermittently when I get an error rate over 30 a second. When the error rate is lower to say 1-2 an hour, it's stable. It has failed on 1500K and 3,700K speeds

I have a Virgin Media cable connection that has been providing a broadband connection to my home network of 6 PCs. I have recently added a BT ADSL connection that also could provide the broadband connection via a BT Home Hub. I would like to use both WAN connections and load balance them. A number of designs have been proposed, but all require either detailed configuration of the routing tables (under Windows XP) on each PC or configuration of teh tables on each of the routers (Belkin and Home Hub). A dual WAN router has also been suggested. It is not clear to me how this would be configured. Do I take a LAN connection of the Belkin router to the WAN port on the Dual Wan router? Will this also work with the Home Hub? I don't want to use the WiFi capabilities available on each of the existing routers. Correction ... I don't want to LOOSE the WiFi capabilities of each of the existing routers.
