What causes CRC errors on an ADSL connection? I am having an issue with my ADSL connection. More speed = more CRC errors, which lags the connection. Changed my modem 2 times (tested with 3 modems), 3 technicians have come to the house and say it's fine (the house). I am 6 kilometres from the exchange, which is just outside the ADSL capabilities, but I am trying to understand, where these CRC errors come from. Can it be noise related in the line. Can it be a copper wire failing or a connection that got wet and corroded? Can it be a faulty DSLAM port or the exchange? Line faults intermittently when I get an error rate over 30 a second. When the error rate is lower to say 1-2 an hour, it's stable. It has failed on 1500K and 3,700K speeds

She wont be connecting the landline phone(its a mobile phone society these days) but wants broadband internet on the cheap but with some decent speed & download limits, hence the attractivness of ADSL. But can you connect to an ADSL connection without having a landline phone actively connected?

How is it possible for my ADSL connection to be working but not the phone line?? I am not getting a dial tone anymore on my phone even when I use the same connection that I get my ADSL service from. The phone company technician confirmed that the phone/internet service is working to the NID (grey box on the outside of the building) but I am not getting any phone service inside my apartment, no matter where I connect my phone. If you call my fixed line phone you will hear it ringing but my phone is just completely lifeless! Do you think that my internal phone wiring may be faulty?
