Comcast cable internet- do I still need to pay for cable tv?

I currently have Comcast internet/basic cable. If I cancel my subscription for cable tv and keep the internet, can I just split the line going to the router, run it to the tv and still get basic cable?

  1. Yes you can, however you will only get basic, not basic expanded. You will no longer get a package deal and the Internet price is almost as much as the package price. Sorry but they got us!
  2. Probably not, they can filter the signals coming into the house. Usually with Comcast you get package discounting. What this means is that if you cancel your cable TV, the cost for your monthly internet access will go up (since you are only using 1 service instead of 2). I tried to do the same thing and it only came out to being around $20 cheaper to have just internet than it was to have internet and basic cable. Best of luck.
  3. i don't think they are that stupid to let you get the signal for basic cable. As soon as you cancel your cable, they will modify the cable box outside your house and stop the cable signal and only let the high speed internet through...so even if you plug in your cable to the back of your tv...it will not receive the channel info/signal try calling them and say that you want to switch unless you get the current deal.
