When can a wireless broadband service be intercepted?

I have a wireless broadband service from the Cricket Company. I use it often and one day a friend showed me how he could use my signal on his psp. Does this mean that other people could steal my service on their laptops/pc as well? How can i avoid this from happening? Can they see what im seeing on my computer?

1. If your wifi is not using a WEP or WAP key then yes, anyone can join your connection and they could monitor some of your activities. Just go to your router and enable wep/wap encryption.
