How to avoid the "lag" in network games?
I'm playing a mod(totally legal version of a game) of MVP baseball 2005 versus some friends from Venezuela and Spain , I just join or host a online game by using a direct ip address provided by the hamachi network (not my real ip address) , we start to play and every single game we suffer of "lag"(I don't know if it can be defined as lag). What really happens is that when my rival pitches the ball , I make a swing but the swing is late even being on time , because of the distance between the two computers so what I see in the game isn't what is really happening , what I see is something that happened in about 1 second.I don't know if you can understand me , but I need a solution for this problem(can be a program or other option) PLEASEEEEEEEEE! thank you.

- Much of your problem is the distance between you all. It has to travel via underwater cables, thousands of miles. The only way you can fix it is to make sure you have the fastest cables on your end. Be sure your not using wireless, if you are, and you must continue using wireless, get an N router, and an N wireless card. If you can go wired, be sure your using a CAT 6 cable, or a cat 5e. IF your using plain ol' cat 5 then go buy a new cable. Newegg has em' cheap btw If that doesn't work then your Outta luck. The reason why other online games don't lag is they have a central server. Which cuts the distance in half for both users. In this case your just running a regular LAN online with thousands of miles between all of you.
- While the first answer is correct, your problem is latency. Latency is the amount of time it takes for a packet of data to go from one point to another. If you're playing a game, latency shouldn't be more than 70ms. You can do a speedtest at www.speedtest.net to get your Internet speed and latency information. Hamachi might be the problem. I like the program, but using Hamachi adds another factor in the mix that can increase your lag, or latency.
