  1. Sounds like you're on cable - so you'll need a cable router. Very few modem/routers have the facility to disable the inbuilt modem. Good news is you can get an el cheapo one from dabs for about 20 quid.
  2. From Your Description == NO. = Details Please. - Make & model of wireless router & "router only." - The wireless router description may be a DSL modem/Wireless Router/Ethernet switch. - "Router Only" description is probably a DSL/cable modem. - A router/Ethernet switch has 5 Ethernet ports. - 1 labeled WAN (Wide Area Network). - The other 4 may be labeled LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, or just numbered 1- 4.
  3. You have what is actually a DSL modem and router and wireless access point integrated into one discrete unit. This device is designed to take a RJ 11 phone jack line into itself. This transforms the DSL signal to an Ethernet protocol signal which is fed out the RJ 45 socket which is designed to feed a network switch. It also takes the Ethernet protocol signal, converts it to an IEE 802.11 wireless signal for wireless LAN purposes. It cannot take an external Ethernet protocol signal from any other modem into itself and process it. In your case it appears as though you have an external Ethernet protocol signal from some other modem (perhaps a Cable TV modem or a DSL modem (without router capability). Your ADSL Wireles router cannot be used. Now if you have a DSL signal through a strict DSL modem you may be able to remove the strict DSL modem and replace it with your device - but check with your carrier first.
  4. I think you have some problems with the names of things. I assume you do have DSL from your phone company and they gave you this adsl unit. This is really a modem not a router. There is one port for the phone line and one ethernet port to connect to your computer. Follow the directions that came with the adsl unit. Now, if your really do have a second unit that is a Netgear wireless router, you connect a wire between the adsl unit to the WAN port on the router. Most Netgear routers have this one WAN port and four LAN ports to connect to four computers with wires. However there are some units that are meant only for wireless so you connect the ethernet port of the adsl unit to the ethernet port on the Netgear then connect wireless to your computers. Again, follow the directions.
  5. Do NOT connect more than one router to the line. If you already have a dsl router, replace it with the wireless one. If you have a cable mode, you have bought the wrong router, you need a cable router.
  6. No sorry that is not possible, as it sounds like you don't have an adsl router and modem. You have to find out what type of internet you have e.g. cable, dial-up etc. and then purchase the hardware to suit.
