Describe the difference between an RC lag and an RC lead network? what makes a wave to lag and its effect ?

1. An RC lag circuit is a series connected R C network with C connected to the common.An i/p voltage is connected between the open end of R and common the output taken from the voltage across C. A lead network has the resistor connected between C and common. the i/p between the open end of C and common. the output taken from the voltage across R. The lag circuit will form a low pass filter the lead circuit a high pass filter. The 3 db point will be at 1/CR in both cases.
