Speed Up Your Internet Connection

How do I find out if someone is using my broadband?

I have went to the history of my address bar and have found sites that should not be there...My husband and I are the only ones who use this computer and this is the only computer we have our broadband connected to. Is it possible that someone is using our broadband? The usage doesn't seen too high or anything. How do I find out if it is being connected to by an outsider?

  1. Even if someone is leeching on your connection, strange things aren't going to show up in the history or address bar. I think maybe your husband has been looking at porn and lying about it.
  2. EVery Router is different, so my directions here are going to be a little vague since there is no router type or model specified. Afte you web into the router ( typing the IP address of the router in yoru browser ) and typing in the Password, every router will have an option to show "DHCP Table" or sometimes labeled "Connected PC's" Here, you will see any PC's that are connected to the router.
  3. the easiest way it that you make it password protected. so that the other will not be able to use it. these websites probably are ads. or popups.
  4. To protect your connection password protect your router, however the issue you have described is not related to this kind of activity. The history and address bar are specific to your computer. You could connect 10 computers to your broadband, but each one would only show sites in the history and address bar that had been accessed from that specific computer. In other words, if these sites are showing on your computer, then they could have only been accessed on your computer.
