Speed Up Your Internet Connection

How do connect my broadband when my computer does not have an ethernet connection?

I have just had broadband installed and the modem needs to connect to my computer via an ethernet lead. The trouble is I do not have an ethernet connection on my computer. Is there a way I can connect in other ways?

  1. THROUGH A USB PORT...
  2. Most broadband modems have a USB option as well.. Personally, I would just by an ethernet card, they're only $20.
  3. Some modems have a USB connector also, but it is somewhat slower. Of course, that contemplates that your computer has a USB port. Sounds like you need to get a newer computer to take full advantage of the broadband
  4. a case of PPPP. you can get a connection if you get set up for Wii Fi..
  5. Not that modem. You need an ethernet card (cheap, $20 or so at Wal-Mart). The ethernet card will slide into a slot on your motherboard then you'll plug your modem into it. Or, you could request your ISP send you a USB modem that can connect to a USB slot in your PC - IF you have a USB slot.
  6. To have an ethernet port you need to install a ethernet adapter inside the computer. An easier alternative would be connecting via USB port. I am sure you recieved a USB cable from your internet service provider, together with ethernet cable. If you don't have it you can purchase a usb cable from a computer shop. You need to run the installation CD once again, and choose the option 'connect via USB', when the CD prompts you to choose either ethernet or USB connection. Then USB drivers will be installed to your hard drive, (you don't have to do anything, CD does it for you), then when promted by the CD, connect the computer and modem via USB cable. Then you'd be on business... what's your modem type by the way?
  7. you cam by ethernet cards from pc world £10.00 as i had same trouble works ok
